Our colleague Jean-Pierre Lasota passed away on 31 October 2024 (see the article we devoted to him on our website).
To honour his memory, the Institut d'astrophysique de Paris is organising a study day that will look back at the scientific and human impact of Jean-Pierre Lasota in relativistic astrophysics, his community involvement and his efforts to bring theory and observations closer together. Presentations will focus on his legacy on subjects as varied as general relativity, AGN, accretion disks and binary systems.
This day will be held on 19 September 2025 in the IAP amphitheatre between 9.30am and 5pm, with the participation of Marek Abramowicz, Jean Audouze, Steven Balbus, Didier Barret, Fabienne Casoli, Phil Charles, Nathalie Deruelle, Guillaume Dubus, Eric Gourgoulhon, Jean-Marie Hameury, Andrew King, Wlodek Kluzniak, Matt Middleton, Patrick Peter, Marta Volonteri, Tsvi Piran (TBC) and Mitch Begelman (TBC).
