| « Black holes in galaxy mergers » |

| In a hierarchical universe galaxy mergers are an integral part of structure evolution. Supermassive black holes appear to also have evolved with their host galaxies along cosmic history. We therefore often expect supermassive black holes to take part of galaxy mergers. Indeed, quasar activity is nowadays believed to be triggered by galaxy mergers. In this talk I will discuss dynamical aspects of black hole evolution during mergers, and connect theoretical models to current and future observables, such as the triggering of quasar activity, the frequency of double AGN and black hole binaries as sources of gravitational waves. |
