« Tests of Lorentz violation: a 2013 update » |
Stefano Liberati |
Quantum gravity approaches have suffered for many years a chronic lack of observational tests. The "book of nature" seemed locked to our eyes by the seemingly unnatural size of the Planck scale. The last decade has however witnessed a series of striking successes in casting some constraints on possible QG induced effects, in particular those related to the possible breakdown of Lorentz invariance at high energies. In this talk I will review the state of affairs in this matter with a particular focus on Lorentz breaking tests based on high energy astrophysics and cosmic rays. I shall then discuss future perspectives not only with respect to Lorentz violation tests but also with regards of other possible searches in quantum gravity phenomenology.
