Model independent results based on symmetries are precious because they allow us to robustly discriminate large classes of microscopic realizations of inflation. A prominent example is provided by Maldacena’s consistency relations for soft scalars and gravitons. While these soft theorems are valid in very general single-clock models of inflation, there exist non-attractor models where they are violated, at least for some extended interval of time.
After discussing the general consequences of an internal shift symmetry in the EFT of single-field inflation and deriving the corresponding Ward identities for correlators, we will focus on non-attractor evolutions, showing that the dynamics of soft modes is constrained in a similar way to standard attractor models. |
