The future space-based detector LISA will detect gravitational-wave signals at low frequencies, supplementing the observations of ground-based detectors. Among the most promising astrophysical sources are the mergers of massive black hole binaries at high redshift, and the inspirals of stellar-mass systems similar to the systems already detected by LIGO/Virgo. Assessing LISA capabilities and developing specific data analysis tools for LISA. Previous studies exploring astrophysical parameters recovery of LISA often relied on simplified, inspiral-only signals and on the Fisher matrix approximation. We present a Fourier-domain treatment of the time- and frequency-dependent modulations of the signal induced by the orbital motion and delays in the detector. Together with recently developed fast and accurate Fourier-domain waveform models that include the merger and ringdown, this approach enables a significant acceleration of the likelihood evaluations, opening the way to an extensive exploration of the parameter space using Bayesian analyses. We present examples of such analyses for non-spinning supermassive black hole binaries, highlighting the crucial degeneracy-breaking role of the higher harmonics, as well as examples of stellar-mass black hole binaries seen in the LISA band. |
