« Fast Frequency-domain Waveforms for Spin-precessing Binary Inspirals » |
A. Klein |
The gravitational wave signal emitted by misaligned spinning compact binaries is modulated by the interactions between the spins and the angular momentum. Spin-orbit precession has been known to greatly improve parameter estimation for such sources, but the complexity of the signal has prevented the modelling of generic precession effects in the frequency domain. Although time-domain waveforms exist, they are too computationally expensive to use in systematic parameter estimation studies. I will present here a remarkably simple new algorithm to model precession effects in the frequency domain. The resulting waveforms are very faithful to time-domain waveforms obtained through a discrete Fourier transform, while being far less computationally costly. |
