« Gravity and Cosmology of the dilaton at strong coupling » |
Federico Piazza |
"It has recently been argued that, thanks to string-loop corrections, the string dilaton may decouple from matter and gravity in the infinite bare coupling limit of string theory. A primordial inflationary period proves to be particularly efficient in pushing the dilaton toward such a fixed point at infinity, where the theory is phenomenologically acceptable. The residual dilaton''s interactions can be related to the amplitude of density fluctuations generated during inflation, and they are of the correct order of magnitude to be detectable in next-to-come tests of free-fall universality. Moreover, provided it has a significant coupling to dark matter, a runaway dilaton may also play the role of quintessence and induce time-variations of the natural ""constants"" within the reach of near-future experiments." |
