« Self-force regularization in the black hole perturbation approach » |
Misao Sasaki |
Gravitational waves from a compact star orbiting a supermassive black hole may be detected by LISA in not too far distant future, and it is important to know the orbital evolutionary behavior with very good accuracy. To do so, it is necessary to take account of the self-force acting on the star which is due to the metric perturbation induced by the star itself. In the point particle approximation, however, the self-force is divergent at the location of the particle, and it needs to be properly regularized. In this talk, I will decribe a possible practical method for calculating the regularized self-force, and discuss issues that still remain to be solved. |
