| I will show how to provide suitable gauge invariant prescriptions for classical spatial averages or quantum expectation values. Then I will use the quantum prescription to illustrate a gauge invariant approach to backreaction in the early universe. Problems and prospectives of the application of the classical prescription in the evaluation of the cosmological backreaction in the present universe will be also mentioned. |
