We summarize past techniques for connecting average halo growth to average galaxy growth, and discuss present observational evidence for a correlation between halo assembly and galaxy quenching. We present a next-generation model for self-consistent galaxy—halo matching that reproduces these observations and discuss some preliminary findings for galaxy quenching.
