| Massive galaxies formed rapidly in the early universe. Scaling relations imply that their massive black holes also formed rapidly. A symbiotic occurrence of black hole and host galaxy growth is indeed observed in galaxies of all masses. This talk will focus on the most massive galaxies hosting the most luminous active nuclei, namely the high-redshift 3C population. Herschel Space Observatory data complete their SEDs and indicate prodigious ongoing star formation. Radio data permit an attempt to model the astrophysical interconnection of host and black hole growth. |
