« Quasars probing high redshift galaxies » |

Quasar absorption lines provide a unique tool to detect baryonic matter at all redshifts in a luminosity-unbiased way. In particular, it is possible to study the neutral gas that resides in the interstellar medium of normal, high-redshift galaxies. In this talk, I will give clues to study the properties of the neutral ISM at high redshift and discuss the connection between these properties and the associated galaxies. I will also present accurate measurements of the CMB temperature as a function of cosmic time, based on the detection of molecules at high-z. |
