« Cosmic Beginnings and Cosmic Fate » |
Ben Wandelt |
We live in a special time. Observations from space and from the ground make the term "precision cosmology" much less of an oxymoron than it was only a decade ago. But we are not quite there yet. In the coming years the standard model of cosmology will be subject to a barrage of tests. Some of the constitutive questions of cosmology remain open. How did the Universe begin? What is its ultimate fate? More specifically: did the Universe emerge from an epoch of single-field inflation? What are the physical properties of dark energy? I will discuss work by my collaborators and me intended to contribute to answering these questions with the goal of encouraging fruitful interactions with my new colleagues at IAP. |
