| I discuss developments on the understanding of the prompt emission of GRBs in the light of Swift observations in the last several year, and the constraints imposed by recent high energy observations by Fermi. The high energy emission is particularly important due to its detection in both long and short bursts with similar characteristics, and due to its smooth transition into an extended afterglow phase, with possible implications for cosmic ray acceleration and TeV neutrino emission. |
