« Type Ia Supernova cosmology: The ZTF survey in the context of cosmological tensions »

Type Ia supernovae enabled the discovery of dark energy 25 years ago, leading to the Lambda-CDM concordance cosmological model. Today, this model is subject to tensions, without mentioning that neither Lambda nor CDM are understood. The most significant tension concern the Hubble-Lemaitre constant that show a 5sigma disagreement between prediction of the cosmological model anchored at CMB-epoch and its direct measurements made with current-time probes. In the seminar, I will first review my take-away of the Hubble-tension situation. I will then introduce the Zwicky Transient Facility survey and the sample thousands of nearby cosmological Type Ia Supernovae we are about to release ; this is one order of magnitude larger then the current ones that took 20 years to acquire and that are at the center of the Hubble-tension. I will finally show you how this revolutionary sample is about to change the way we do type Ia supernovae cosmology and its impact it shall have of the aforementioned cosmological tensions in particular and on cosmology in general.
