Numerical simulations of galaxy formation have been active and productive in recent years. We aim to reproduce galaxies as observed through the ab initio physical modeling approach with as few free parameters as possible and finally understand the origin of galaxies. The recent high-resolution simulation NewHorizon answered some outstanding questions but also posed new questions. Among the success is the lesson we learn on the formation of the thin and thick discs of spiral galaxies. We present the current status of this in some detail. Some shortcomings are outstanding as well, regarding the galactic bars, stellar mass to halo mass relations, black hole settling, and so on, which will be discussed, too. We introduce our new cluster simulation (aka "NewCluster") which is the highest resolution cluster simulation to date, with which various topics are being tackled: baryon fraction evolution, environmental effects, morphology transformation, etc.
