« First Science with Virtual Observatories » |

The Virtual Observatory (VO) will revolutionize the way we do Astronomy, by allowing easy access to astronomical data and by making handling and analysing of datasets across the globe much simpler and faster. International VO projects have made much progress toward defining the interoperability standards required for building a VO, and prototype tools have matured to the level where they can be used for real science. In this talk I will describe the current status of the VO and report on the first scientific results, including the discovery of about 30 type 2 quasar candidates in the Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey (GOODS) fields. |
