« Galaxy clustering in the Canada-France Legacy Survey deep fields » |
Henry Joy McCracken |
In my talk I will describe new measurements of the clustering of faint field galaxies in the Canada France Legacy Survey (CFHLS) deep fields. The CFHTLS represents a significant advance over previous blank-field surveys of the distant universe, thanks to deep (i*<25) five-band photometric coverage in four separate fields each covering one square degree. A host of ancillary data is available in each field. In the d1-field we combine CFHTLS optical data with CFH12K imaging from the VIRMOS-VLT deep survey (VVDS) to derive precise nine-band photometric redshifts. These have been calibrated with 3,000 high-quality spectra from the VVDS project. We use this unique sample of 100,000 galaxies to investigate the evolution of galaxy clustering as a function of redshift and instrinsic luminosity from 0.2 |
