International partnerships
An international partnership is a research project, established jointly by two research teams, one French, the other foreign, which benefits, after evaluation, from the financial support of the two partner bodies. The main partnerships in which IAP participates are:
- les International Research Networks (IRN)
- the “International programmes of scientific cooperation” (Programmes Internationaux de Coopération Scientifique, PICS)
- the “Joint research projects” (Projets de Recherche Conjoints, PRC)
- the “Associated international laboratories” (Laboratoires Internationaux Associés, LIA)
- the “Hubert Curien partnerships” (Partenariats Hubert Curien, PHC) ;
- the collaborative scientific research programmes of the Indo-French Center for the Promotion of Advanced Resaerch (IFCPAR).
These partnerships offer IAP researchers tools for international cooperation, which allow them to finance their trips between partner laboratories in order to participate in work meetings and international conferences, to purchase equipment, to obtain (jointly supervised) PhD thesis scholarships for students, and sometimes even to cover operating expenses.
